Day Trip to New Orleans

and some life updates

Last Thursday, I went into New Orleans to take care of some business at school and explore the campus! I am currently taking online classes through Loyola University New Orleans, where I am completing my degree in communications arts with a concentration in journalism. Loyola, a Jesuit institution located on St. Charles Avenue, has a wonderful program, so I knew it was perfect when I was searching for a college to finish at. Hopefully, I will be able to move to the campus next year, as I have three semesters left before I can graduate. A visit to the campus made me so excited about that possibility, plus I love where it is located, and the size of it as well.

I previously attended Spring Hill College, also a Jesuit institution, so my credits that I earned there transferred beautifully to Loyola. There are also a lot of similarities of the two schools, and when I stepped foot on campus, I noticed that even more in the architecture, landscaping, and size. I felt so comfortable on Loyola's campus, and that made me so happy. I do not know many people at the school, so when I was there, I acted as a sort of fly on the wall, viewing what life is like there on a daily basis. I walked around and explored a few buildings, then grabbed a cup of coffee at Starbucks in their student union and sat down to do some homework and people watch. Everyone seemed super nice and I felt like I fit in well.

After my visit, my dad picked me up after his meeting in the city, and we went to Magazine Street, my favorite street in New Orleans, where we got poke bowls at Poke Loa, and I think I may have to say that it was the best meal I have ever eaten. I have been wanting to try it forever, so this was the perfect day to do so. I got a salmon bowl, with a variety of other ingredients in it. I love sushi, so this was a cool new way to eat it.

This was a great day! I am so glad I had this opportunity to go to campus, and it made me super excited about the future. For now, I am living at home while I take my classes, and I am super busy. I am still working as a nanny, but I also manage a few social media accounts for some businesses on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which I have absolutely loved doing. I am learning so much about the odds and ends and science behind Instagram, while also getting to work on my photography and writing skills. I love working with these local individuals, learning about their businesses and finding hidden gems in my hometown, not to mention also teaching them what I know about social media. Lastly, I work in a small boutique in Bay St. Louis from time to time. With class, social media management, nannying, working in the shop, and family life, I am keeping myself occupied while I await the next chapter of my life to begin. For now, I am super thankful for this time and for my friends and family and the opportunities that I have been given for growth.
