Starting a skincare routine is difficult, but so so important. I hope this post will give you guys some inspiration!

Skincare, while it sounds complicated, definitely DOES NOT have to be! You can make it as simple or as involved as you please. If you are just starting out, I would invest in a good daily cleanser to use morning and night, a toner, a face mask (you can buy these in sheet versions or in a tube for multi-use...more economical) targeting any specific issues you may have with your face (for example: dry face-try a hydrating mask) to use once a week, a face serum, and a good daily moisturizer! These are the products that base my skincare routine, and I can say that they do wonders for my skin. Self care is important!! Here is a breakdown of my personal routine!

Nighttime products

1. In the evening, I start with cleansing my face with my regular charcoal cleanser (not pictured, but it is in my "Bathtime Queen" post). I usually wash it with my Clairsonic Mia.

2. After my face is nice and clean, this is the time where I decide if I'm going to indulge myself in a face mask that evening or not...I try to do one 3 times a week! This is also the time where I would apply a pore strip, or those extra things, I'll get to later! My favorite face mask right now is the Aztec Secret mask. It comes in a tub (you can get it on Amazon...look it up, it has stellar reviews) and requires you to mix it with equal parts apple cider vinegar and water. Me, being extra (this is totally unnecessary) has a face mask "kit" which includes a mixing bowl, spatula, measuring spoons, a brush to apply the mask with so you don't get your hands dirty, a sponge to wipe it off when you're finished, and a handy top to seal it if you don't use it all. This face mask is great for extracting all of those gross things from your pores that cause acne later. Not to mention, I have noticed that my face has a noticeable glow after I use it! I also really love sheet masks of different kinds, and this new tea tree one I got at TJ Maxx (pictured). It goes on as a gel, and as it sits, you can feel it cooling and soothing your face. It feels AMAZING! And it's a "peel off" one, so that's really fun :). Always wash your face mask off with warm water!

3. Toner time! Toner is one of those basic skin care products I think everyone should have, and it does just what it's name implies: literally tones your face and clears your pores of any residue your brush may not have gotten out while also reducing their size! Apply it with a cotton ball. I use the Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel...basic is the best!

4. Face serum: I know this sounds and looks scary...but you've GOT to get some. Toner is a great moisturizer and it also helps with dark marks, fine lines, even wrinkles. I've had some pesky acne scars for a while, and after using reship oil serum for a few weeks, they disappeared! You only need up to 5 drops, and pat, don't rub, your serum into your face. Drumming it with your fingers helps the skin to absorb it better.

5. If you want to apply moisturizer (while I don't think it is necessary), do it after you feel like your serum has absorbed into your skin. Just a small amount goes a long way, and don't forget your neck!

6. Last but not least, eye serum. I bought this because I started noticing lines under my eyes and when I smile. I think they are from being in the sun so much. Applying literally 1 drop to each side of my delicate eye area in the evening is definitely what my eyes needed!

Daytime products

1. My daytime routine is a little less involved, as it has to be quick usually! First, I start out with cleansing with my cute little Cala brush. I LOVE this brush. A friend recommended it to me, and I like it because it has an exfoliating side, and a brush side, so your skin feels really clean after using it. I also like it because although I adore my Clairsonic, it has a timer, and I don't always have time to go through the whole cycle. It's also heavy, requires a charger, and is bulky for travel. Simply squirt a little of your cleanser on the brush, and move it in circular motions on your face, using both sides.

2. Next, tone your face, same deal as the evening, with a cotton ball.

3. Not sure why I put the serum in this picture because I don't apply it during the day, although you definitely can and it would come next! Instead, I lather on my Dirty Works 8 in 1 moisturizer to my face. My face drinks this stuff, so it dries really quickly in time for makeup or sunscreen.

4. Last, as always, 2 drops of eye serum for each eye!

Now, you can stop reading if you've had enough lol. If you want to hear about my once a week products, keep reading!

Once a week products

Once a week, I use these three things. Not all on the same day, just whenever I'm needing something extra. Pore strips are super satisfying and help to clean out all the gunk in your pores on your nose. These could even be used less than once a week. They're easy to use: wash your face, leave it wet, and apply the strip to your nose. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes before you observe the magic. Eye patches: I found these at TJ Maxx, and I love this brand, so I knew they would work well. This jar contains 30 pairs, so they will last me a while. They feel so cooling and soothing on your eyes, I want to use them everyday! Like a pore strip, leave them on for 10 minutes and notice your eye puffiness disappear! Lastly, this great acne peel. I make sure to definitely use this once a week since I break out. This gel "mask" helps to stop breakouts before they begin and get rid of current pimples. It kind of burns, but that means it's working!

Thank you for tuning into my skincare rant! I hope that some of you will adopt this skincare routine, or come up with your own! Love your skin, and more importantly, love yourself!!!
